SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A teen who had an air rifle near a Simpsonville school Tuesday afternoon prompted a partial lockdown of the campus.
Oby Lyles, spokesman for Greenville County Schools, said a parent called authorities and reported a man with a shotgun was seen at a tree line near Rudolph Gordon Elementary School on Scuffletown Road.
Lyles said the campus was placed on partial lockdown while authorities assessed the threat.
Greenville County deputies said it appeared the teen wandered too close to the school. He was not charged.
Lyles said most students had left the school before it was locked down. The partial lockdown was lifted at 3:30 p.m.
