Deputies said they arrested a man found passed out behind his steering wheel after paramedics discovered video of a burglary on the man's cell phone.

Spartanburg County deputies were called to Dobson Road at Highway 290 in Duncan where a driver had reportedly passed out behind the wheel about 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the sheriff's office report, a person who was driving behind a silver Kia Optima called 911 when the driver stopped at a stop sign, began texting then passed out. The report said when paramedics arrived, the driver was asleep on the steering wheel.

Deputies arrived and asked the driver to get out of the car, and they said he had trouble doing so. As paramedics and deputies searched the man's car, they said they found rolling papers, a marijuana cigarette, syringe, and an empty prescription medicine bottle that did not belong to him.

After entering the driver's name into their system, it came up that he was a suspect in a burglary, the report said.

Then as paramedics were looking for an emergency contact on the driver's cell phone, they said they saw video of the man breaking into a home.

The driver was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct, simple possession of marijuana and having no driver's license in his possession.
