EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters said an unoccupied Easley home caught fire Thursday morning, causing extensive damage.

A home on Pelzer Highway across from West End Elementary School caught fire about 5:45 a.m., according to officials with the Easley Fire Department.

Easley Fire Chief Butch Womack said while no one was inside the home, the power was on.

He said the fire appears to have started in the roof and caused extensive damage. Firefighters will investigate what sparked the blaze.

Womack said drivers in the area should expect delays, with crews on the scene possibly causing backups in addition to heavy traffic headed to the elementary school.

Firefighters said no one was injured in the fire.
