GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner has identified a motorcyclist killed in a Greer crash on Sunday.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Marcel Chriss, 41, of Simpsonville, died in the crash along Business Parkway about 8 p.m.

Clevenger said Chriss was not wearing a helmet in the crash.

It took officials several days to notify family of Chriss' death because they were out of the country, Clevenger said.

Troopers said a motorcyclist was killed after running into a tractor while racing another vehicle.

According to Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the Highway Patrol, Chriss lost control while racing a Ford Mustang. Rhyne said the Mustang also ran off the right side of the roadway, hitting a fire hydrant, phone box and culvert.

The driver of the Mustang was cited with driving under the influence and racing.

The coroner's office along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol and MAIT team are investigating the crash. Toxicology reports are pending on Chriss, Clevenger said.
