Coroner: Car rolls back hitting, killing woman

EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers are investigating a fatal, single-car accident involving a pedestrian in an Easley neighborhood Friday morning.

The accident happened at about 7 a.m. along Fernwood Drive near West Roper Road.

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said a woman was behind her car when it rolled back, striking her. She said the pedestrian died at the scene.

Trooper said the woman was driving her SUV, stopped it and got out of the car when she was hit by it.

Kelley said the accident happened at the woman's Fernwood Drive home, who was identified as 34-year-old Jessica Hoepelman-Garcia.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
