ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
A crash involving a tractor-trailer and several other vehicles shut down a part of Interstate 40 near Asheville on Tuesday evening.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on the I-40 eastbound near mile marker 47.
Troopers said a tractor-trailer and at least three sport-utility vehicles were involved in the crash. They said several people were injured.

Drivers are urged to use the following detour to avoid the area: Take Interstate 26 west to exit 4B then continue on Interstate 240 east until it reconnects with I-40 at mile marker 53.
