DUNCAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A fiber optics manufacturer has announced expansion plans that will bring 95 new jobs to Spartanburg County.

AFL currently makes fiber optic products and equipment at its Parkway East plant in Duncan and said with an increase in demand, they will invest $8.6 million to expand their operations.

Company officials said they will move 110 current employees to a new building on Hidden Lake Circle and add a new product line at the Parkway East location. They expect the expansion to be finished by late 2013.

"Demand for our products is growing, and this expansion will help us grow our business and better meet the needs of our customers," said Kenny Nara, chairman for AFL. "AFL considered a number of locations for our expansion and are very pleased to have chosen to expand here in Spartanburg County. South Carolina has provided us with an excellent business environment. We appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials."

The company will begin hiring for the new positions in late 2012. Anyone interested in job opportunities should visit AFL's website at or contact Scott Wheeler at 864-433-0333.
