Deputies said they arrested two people who were hiding in a Spartanburg outbuilding during Operation Dragnet.
On Wednesday, Spartanburg County deputies conducted a large sweep of the area serving hundreds of outstanding arrest warrants and during the operation, they received a tip that one suspect may be hiding at a home on Garner Road.
Deputies said they got permission to search the home's outbuilding where they found Joseph Garza, 32, and Ashley Directo, 23, hiding under a countertop.
Garza was wanted on an attempted murder warrant after deputies said he shot Directo in the chest on Sept. 25.
The shooting stemmed from an argument following a single-car crash where Directo was driving and Garza was a passenger, deputies said. After the crash, the two returned to Garza's home on Clifton Road in Cowpens where he shot Directo, according to a deputy's report.
Deputies said when they responded to the home on Garner Road on Wednesday, they found various drugs and drug making equipment in the outbuilding where the two were hiding. Deputies arrested both suspects and a third, Jeffery Smalley, 40, who was also present at the residence.
In total, Garza faces five drug-related charges, two possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges and the attempted murder charge.
Directo and Smalley were charged with trafficking methamphetamine or cocaine base greater than 400 grams. They are all being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
