GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies and the coroner are investigating a man's death after he was stabbed in the stomach and died at the hospital Friday morning.

Greenville County Coroner Barry Wright said authorities were called to a domestic violence incident at a home on Rutledge Lake Road in Berea about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday where the man was stabbed.

The man, 47-year-old Daniel Lee, was taken to the hospital with a single stab wound to the left abdomen and underwent two surgeries but died about 3:30 a.m., Wright said.

Greenville County deputies said they were investigating the death. They said they were called to the home about an assault and found Lee and Tammy Simpson, 51, with visible injuries. Deputies said the two lived together at the Rutledge Lake Road home.

According to her arrest warrant, Lee told deputies Simpson stabbed him after they got into a physical fight, and she admitted to deputies that she stabbed him with a steak knife.

Deputies said they arrested and charged Simpson with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and she is being held on a $15,000 bond.

The case is under investigation by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit as a death investigation, and investigators will work with the help of the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office if additional charges will be filed.
