Ex-substitute teacher accused of sex with boy at school
Jamye Sanders (Anderson Co. Jail)
WILLIAMSTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A former substitute teacher was arrested last week after a boy's parents reported an inappropriate relationship with her, according to Williamston police.
According to an incident report, the parents of the 15-year-old boy came to the police station with their son and reported the relationship with 33-year-old Jamye Sanders, of Williamston.
Sanders was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
According to the arrest warrant, the sexual encounters happened at Sanders' home and Palmetto Middle School.
Jane Harrison, spokesperson for Anderson County School District 1, said that Sanders worked as a substitute teacher last school year, and filled in about six times in the media center at West Pelzer Elementary School. She said Sanders has not been on the list of substitute teachers at all this school year.
Harrison said Sanders also served as an officer of the Parent-Teacher Organization at Palmetto Middle School, but resigned her position in early September.
Sanders has been placed on trespass notice at all 14 schools in the district, Harrison said.
