GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville gas station clerk was attacked and robbed early Monday morning, according to Greenville County deputies.

The robbery happened about 6 a.m. at the Spinx gas station at 3815 White Horse Rd.

Deputies said the clerk was collecting money from the gas pumps, when two men sped up to the employee in a gray PT cruiser, jumped out of the car, assaulted the clerk, stole the cash and sped away.

Investigators said the two men were armed with handguns. They said the pair was wearing dark clothing and masks.

The clerk was injured during the attack, deputies said. They said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME (864-232-7463).
