GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County dispatchers will soon have a new safety tool at their fingertips.

It's called SafeTown and it's a web-based and mobile application that will better connect the community to emergency responders, according to a press release from the communication center.

SafeTown allows residents to create a household profile for first responders to use during an emergency.

Residents will have to sign up for the application online.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson County Unified Emergency Communication Center on Airport Road. The ceremony is open to the public.
