Authorities said two school buses crashed in Madison County on Wednesday, sending students to the hospital.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the wreck happened along U.S. 25/70 near A-B Tech's Madison campus and Highway 213. Several lanes were closed at the time of the crash.
Emergency crews from Buncombe County were also called in to assist.
The Marshall Community Fire Department reported that two school buses and a pickup truck were involved, and one of the buses was pushed into an A-B Tech campus building. Firefighters said there were at least 20 to 30 patients involved.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said there were students onboard and hospital officials said their were no life-threatening injuries.
Officials at Mission Hospital in Asheville said 15 middle school-aged children and one adult were admitted into their Emergency Department after the crash. They said the children and bus driver were in stable condition.
Parents of the children were notified of the accident.
