Asheville police said the holdup happened at 2:20 p.m. at the First Citizens Bank at 975 Smokey Park Highway.

The man was described as white, 5'10" and medium build. He was last seen wearing sunglasses and a gray, hooded sweatshirt and black, baggy pants.

Investigators said the same man is wanted for questioning in a series of armed robberies in Greenville, Spartanburg and Chester and in Johnson City, Bristol and Kingsport, TN.

Police said the man did not show a weapon in the Asheville robbery, but he has in previous hold-ups and should be considered armed and dangerous.

A second unknown white male has been seen driving the getaway vehicle in some of South Carolina and Tennessee crimes, police said.
