SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Spartanburg County deputies said one of their own was injured when a man resisted arrest Tuesday night.
According to a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office report, deputies were called in to assist Wellford police execute a warrant at a North Main Street home in Startex about 10:15 p.m.
Deputies said they were outside when the suspect, 22-year-old Stephen Prather, came out onto the front porch where officers told him he was wanted on an arrest warrant.
When Prather tried to go back inside, one of the officers tried to grab him and in the struggle, a deputy was pushed off of the porch, falling a few feet, landing on the concrete sidewalk and hitting her head, the report said.
Officers were finally able to take down Prather and arrest him, the report said. He was charged with resisting arrest with assault and was being held on bond at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
Deputies said the injured deputy was taken to the hospital with a large bump on her head and a headache but was expected to be treated and released.
