BOILING SPRINGS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a man was taken to the hospital with head wounds after he was beaten by his grandson over a rap song.

Spartanburg County deputies were called to a Boiling Springs home on Wesley Court after a woman reported that her grandson, 23-year-old Brandon Abbott, had beaten her husband.

Abbott's grandfather told him to stop singing a rap song with curse words in the house and to turn down his music when they started a fight with words, according to deputies.

The sheriff's office report said Abbott ended up hitting his grandfather in the face and head several times, leaving cuts and swelling.

Abbott's grandfather blames his grandson's outburst on brain damage. Jerre Abbott said his grandson was in a car accident 10 years ago that left him with brain injuries.

"He's a good kid at heart. I love him to death and I want to get something done mentally not prison time,"said Jerre Abbott, Brandon's grandfather

Brandon Abbott was arrested while his grandfather was taken to Mary Black Hospital for treatment.

Brandon Abbott was charged with second-degree assault and battery and is being held at the county jail on a $2,500 bond.
