GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County coroner confirmed a couple did not make it out of a house fire in Piedmont early Thursday morning.

Firefighters said they arrived to find the Fourth Day Street home engulfed in flames just after midnight.

The South Greenville fire chief said they do not believe the fire is suspicious, but the home was destroyed.

The Greenville County Coroner said 69-year-old Bruce Machen and his 70-year-old wife Doris Machen died in the tragic accident. The coroner said they both died from smoke inhalation, with their deaths ruled accidental.

This is the second fatal house fire in Greenville County in two days. A 72-year-old woman was found dead inside her Marietta home after it caught fire Tuesday night.
