PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A motorcyclist died after hitting a deer Wednesday night, according to Trooper Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision happened just before 7 p.m. on Fox Squirrel Ridge Road at Trotter Road in Pickens, investigators said.
The motorcycle hit a deer that was in the roadway and the rider was ejected, troopers said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said the victim was Hayne Christopher Sheppard II of Pickens, and he died from blunt-force trauma.
