WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The nose of a small airplane slammed into the ground during a landing at a Spartanburg County airstrip Friday afternoon.
The crash happened about 3:15 p.m. at the Chandelle Ridge Airstrip near the intersection of Chandelle Ridge Drive and Highway 101.
Reidville Fire Chief Patrick Evatt said the pilot was returning home after refueling at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. He said that when the plane landed, the front landing gear malfunctioned, allowing the nose of the plane to plow into the ground.
No one was injured in the crash.
