Happy Election Day! If you've voted already, great - but if you haven't, bundle up before you head out to do so! It's a chilly morning, with temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s for most. Thermometers will hold fairly steady through the day, as afternoon highs will only top out in the mid to upper 40s.
The clouds are overhead and they aren't going anywhere. We've seen scattered light rain and areas of drizzle across much of the area this morning, and we'll keep higher precipitation chances through the lunchtime hour. In the Upstate and NE GA we will see rain only, while WNC areas are dealing with a rain/snow mix. Elevations over 3500 feet are the spots that will watch for the snow showers... while lower locations will see the mix or all liquid precipitation.
By this afternoon, we'll see a lull in the rain/snow with only an isolated shower possible. Overnight and into Wednesday, we'll see another round of rain (Upstate) and rain/snow (WNC). Once again, the precip will not be heavy - and snow accumulations for the highest peaks will be minimal at best. I expect most areas to see only an inch or less, while a few isolated areas could see up to two inches (but that would be the exception, not the rule). Temperatures will stay on the cool side tomorrow.
The end of the week brings more sunshine and dry time, with temperatures warming back up. By the weekend, we'll enjoy highs in the mid to upper 60s area-wide with a beautiful blue sky overhead.
