GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said a man was shot and killed outside of a home in Greenville on Tuesday night.
Greenville County deputies said two unknown men arrived at an apartment on Lora Lane, where one of them held a man outside at gunpoint while the other kicked in the apartment's door where three people were inside about 8:15 p.m.
After entering the home and holding the residents at gunpoint, the victim struggled with the suspect ending up outside of the home, where he was eventually shot and killed, according to deputies.
Canine teams searched for the subjects following the shooting but did not locate them, deputies said. Deputies said people inside the house said the man who kicked in the door said he wanted to rob them, but deputies have not determined if anything was stolen at this time.
The Greenville County Coroner identified the victim as 28-year-old Alali Perkins Sr., of Greenville. FOX Carolina spoke with Perkins wife who said he was a father of two who was visiting friends and was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Deputies described the men as black males, approximately 30 years old and armed with guns. They said the man who stormed inside the home was wearing all dark clothing and a ski mask.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the case and said based on preliminary information, they believe that the crime was not random and the public is not believed to be at risk.
Deputies ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
