SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said they arrested a Spartanburg woman who tried to shoplift a wallet and some perfume by hiding the items under her sleeping baby.
About noon on Thursday, Spartanburg police responded to the Sears on West Blackstock Road about a shoplifter. They said the store's security guard saw the woman take a bottle of Katy Perry perfume and a Clemson wallet into the dressing room with some clothes.
Police said an employee noticed the woman leave the room with the clothes but they did not see any other items.
Then the woman left the store pushing her stroller where the guard stopped her, according to police. Police said the woman then pulled out the perfume and wallet from under her sleeping son.
The woman, 31-year-old Frances Simmons, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. She was released from jail on a $1,000 bond.
