GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A crash in Greenville County that killed one person sparked a forest fire late Sunday morning.

The crash happened just before noon near the intersection of state Highway 11 and U.S. Highway 25.

Troopers said a pickup truck was coming off the Highway 25 ramp from the north and tried to turn left onto Highway 11, but failed to yield to another pickup truck hauling a horse trailer.

Both trucks crossed the median and ended up along the side of the road where they caught fire, troopers said. They said the fire then spread to nearby woods.

Highway 11 was shut down while firefighters got the blaze under control. Firefighters said the blaze destroyed about two acres before they were able to contain it.

Troopers said the driver of the truck hauling the trailer was injured and taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, but the driver of the other truck, identified as 19-year-old Allen Brazell, of Greer, was killed.

A passenger of Brazell's truck, identified as 18-year-old Reid Donze, of Greer, was flown to the Augusta Burn Center in Georgia for treatment.
