Astrid Muller (Greenville Co. Detention Center)
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Greenville County jury found a Central woman guilty of hitting and killing a man riding a moped, then fleeing the fatal wreck in 2010.
Astrid Muller, 28, was convicted of reckless homicide and hit-and-run accident resulting in death. Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins said Muller was sentenced to six years suspended to three years.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that Muller was speeding along Highway 123 and maneuvering in and out of traffic when she hit James Grisham, killing him almost instantly. They said Grisham was driving in the outside, southbound lane on his way home to Easley after attending Fall For Greenville on Oct. 9, 2010.
Muller did not stop, driving her damaged car home and hid it before she was connected to the crash and arrested two days later, prosecutors said.
Muller will have to serve 85 percent of her three-year sentence before she is eligible for parole.
