Andreco Stewart (Spartanburg Co. Detention Center)
SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A man being booked into an Upstate jail on Monday punched a deputy when asked if he was violent or non-violent, according to a jail incident report.
Spartanburg County deputies arrested Andreco Stewart, 23, of Spartanburg, after they determined he had been driving a stolen truck.
Deputies said about the same time a 1987 Ford Bronco was reported stolen, deputies were notified that Stewart had been seen in the truck at a relative's home on Chesnee Highway in Spartanburg.
After arresting Stewart on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle and public disorderly conduct, they took him to the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he then assaulted a deputy, according to the report.
The report said Stewart was standing at the booking counter being asked questions when he stopped responding and began looking around. When he was asked, "Do you consider yourself violent or nonviolent," he lunged at a deputy, striking him in the face, according to the report.
The report said deputies took Stewart to the ground and handcuffed him. Stewart was then charged with resisting arrest with assault. He is being held at the jail on bond.
