CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A line of tents began appearing outside Memorial Stadium in Clemson last week as students were trying to get the best seats to next week's Palmetto State showdown.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will travel to Clemson University on Nov. 24 to face the Tigers during the annual rivalry game.

More than 70 tents were staked on the sidewalk of Centennial Boulevard as anxious students waited to get first crack at the student tickets to the game. Those tickets go on sale at 7 a.m. Thursday.

The students who were first in line said they had been taking shifts since last Thursday just to keep their spot in the queue.

"[We're] taking about three hour shifts, and somebody is spending the night each night," said Hettie Goodin, a Clemson student waiting in line. "So, we are making sure we get at least two people here, so we can get our tickets tomorrow morning."

Both the Gamecocks (8-2) and the Tigers (9-1) are ranked in the top 20 in the Bowl Championship Series.

The rivalry began in 1896, and the Tigers lead the series 65-40-4. However, the Gamecocks have beaten Clemson for the past three years. The last time the Gamecocks won four-straight against the Tigers was from 1951 to 1954 - the team's longest winning streak in the series.

Clemson's home record against South Carolina is 16-9-1.

Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney and South Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier have received a lot of attention for some trash-talking in the past - most recently after Gamecock running back Marcus Lattimore was injured.

On Monday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the game will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN 2, beginning at 7 p.m.
