A 73-year-old Greenville man is recovering after deputies said he was found lying in the street after he was attacked and his pickup truck was stolen.

Greenville County deputies said the man was driving to church near Dillon Drive and Hammett Street about 7:10 p.m. when someone kicked his truck.

The man told deputies he stopped and got out to see who kicked his truck when a group of people assaulted him and stole his truck, a 1999 black Dodge Dakota pickup.

Deputies said the man was found bleeding from the head and was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment. They said they found his truck a while later.

Anyone with information on the attack or theft is asked to call 864-467-5240 or Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
