UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Union police said a robber is on the run after stealing cash and shooting at a store clerk on Saturday.

Police were called to Union Wholesale Tire and ABC store on South Pinckney Street about 6:30 p.m. after it was robbed.

The store's clerk told police that an unknown man came in armed with a gun and demanded money. Then the robber told the victim to get down on the ground and fired a shot at him, before emptying the cash register himself, police said.

The man ran out of the store towards the Dixie Curb Mart but officers did not locate him, according to the police report.

The victim told officers the robber was about 5'5" tall, skinny, was wearing a black hoodie, black zip-up suit and had a white T-shirt covering his face.

Police said the bullet missed the clerk, leaving him unharmed.

Anyone with information about the holdup is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
