COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Someone may become handsomely richer in time for Thanksgiving if they are holding the winning numbers for Wednesday's $250 million Powerball $250 jackpot.
The jackpot has increased steadily throughout the past few weeks without a winner.
"We hope a South Carolinian will be the one to stop this jackpot run," said the Lottery's Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. "A $250 million jackpot is fun for our players, but we encourage everyone to please, above all else, play responsibly."
Tickets must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday in South Carolina. Tune into FOX Carolina at 10:59 p.m. for the drawing.
Powerball tickets cost $2 and additional $1 for the PowerPlay option to increase non-jackpot prizes.
The odds of winning are 1 out of 176 million.
In September, someone took home a $337 million Powerball jackpot, one of the largest ever in the game's history.
