ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Several people are a little more thankful after receiving a free, hot Thanksgiving meal from volunteer firefighters in Anderson County.
The volunteers met at the Homeland Park Fire Department yesterday to cook up and dish out turkey and all the trimmings.
Then they loaded up the fire trucks and delivered more then 100 hot plates of food to people who might not have had Thanksgiving dinner.
"I am glad that I can help somebody, I am glad that everybody else enjoy helping someone is not just one person is a team and is wonderful that everyone can get together on Thanksgiving Day and spending to do this for people that can't do for themselves," said volunteer Valerie McGee.
The firefighters also took the opportunity to check smoke alarms and talk about fire safety at the homes they visited.
