GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Instead of getting ready for Sunday services, one Greenville church spent the day cleaning up a mess left behind by vandals.
Members of Providence Baptist Church off of White Horse Road said someone broke into the church at some point during Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
SLIDESHOW: Church vandals leave behind dust, damage
They said vandals broke the side windows, sprayed the sanctuary and Sunday school rooms with a fire extinguisher, and even helped themselves to some cake and coffee before taking off with a small amount of cash from a basement office.
Church officials held their Sunday services in the dining area and deputies are investigating.
Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
