Spartanburg police said they were called to a local restaurant after a customer caused a disturbance, flipping furniture and defecating in the dining room.
Police said a Florida man went into the fine dining portion of Gerhard's Restaurant on East Main Street about 1:30 a.m. and started flipping tables, spilling oil from the table lamps on the carpets and damaging a chair.
The man then went to the bathroom on the carpet of the Elizabeth room, police said.
According to the police report, 23-year-old Edward Guerin, Palm Beach, caused more than $700 worth of damage and costs to clean the carpets.
Guerin was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct and malicious injury to property.
According to the restaurant's website, the bar area is open until 2 a.m. while the dining areas close at 10:30 p.m. on the weekends.
