GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said they arrested a Knoxville man accused of road rage and pointing a gun at an off-duty police officer in an unmarked car on Friday.
According to Greenville County deputies, the off-duty Greenville City Police officer was on his way home about 3 p.m. when a car almost hit his unmarked patrol car while changing lanes.
Deputies said the officer honked at the driver and when they stopped at the next intersection, the driver, identified as 41-year-old Anthony Center, opened the driver's door and pointed a gun at the cop.
The uniformed officer began to follow Center's car while deputies came to help and once at the intersection of Cedar Lane Road and West Blue Ridge Drive, they said Center stopped, exited his vehicle and pointed a gun again at the officer.
The officer activated his blue lights and siren and moved out of Center's way, following him to Lily Street where they arrested him. According to the arrest warrant, Center told deputies he pointed the gun because of road rage.
Center was charged with charged with pointing and presenting firearms at a person. He has since been released from the county jail on $5,000 bond.
