MARICOPA, AZ (CBS5) -
A Mexican man was arrested in Maricopa Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his cousin multiple times during a quarrel, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said Isidoro Contreras, 35, made a disparaging comment about his cousin's mother, sheriff's investigators said. An argument between the two men broke out and it kept escalating until Contreras pulled out an 8-inch field knife and repeatedly stabbed his cousin, PCSO said.
The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical services personnel and then transported to the Maricopa Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to be OK.
PCSO detectives learned that several migrant farm workers living at the address in the 51000 block of Quail Run had been drinking beer throughout the night. The argument between the two cousins broke out at about 1 a.m.
Contreras was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault. PCSO said Contreras admitted he is in the U.S. illegally.
