Deputies said they arrested a man who said he was a "professional hobo" who was caught on a train without permission.
Spartanburg County deputies said they saw the man on a stopped CSX railroad car at Racetrack Road and Highway 221 about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
As deputies talked with the man, he told them he was trying to get to California. The deputy's report said CSX wanted the man charged with trespassing.
Jared Jowett, 21, of Davenport, IA, was arrested and later released from the Spartanburg County jail.
