Duke Energy was reporting approximately 580 customers without power in Greenville County. Utility crews were at the scene to deal with the downed lines.
There is no word yet what caused the crash, but FOX Carolina crews said it was a tree-trimming truck that took out the utility pole.
The fire captain for Pelham-Batesville Fire Department said the fire spread to the nearby grass, but they were unable to put water on the fire until the electricity was turned off because it might electrocute someone. According to crews at the scene, the fire was extinguished by 2:30 p.m.
Troopers were out directing the rerouted traffic because the power was cut to nearby traffic lights. Local businesses are also without power.
