SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg City Fire Department responded to a house fire off of W O Ezell Blvd. near the Briarwood Road intersection at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Firefighters say the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene and the house is a complete loss. They say they believe the house has been vacant for several years and don't believe anyone was injured in the fire.

Crews continue to work on putting out the fire Saturday night. They say they may be redirecting traffic near that intersection of W O Ezell Blvd. for much of the night.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Spartanburg City Fire Department says it will be difficult to determine a cause because the house was been severely destroyed and is not safe for firefighters to enter.
