GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Greenville police said they arrested a man who drove his car into a local church, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.
Police said they charged John Griffith III, 39, with malicious damage greater than $10,000 after he drove into the sanctuary of Little Zion Baptist Church on North Vance Street about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom, before coming out to find a car driving around the church building.

Griffith admitted he drove into the church on purpose, causing $30,000 in damage, police said. No motive was given.
They said he was not a member of the church. He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $7,500 bond.
