SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they were assisting Simpsonville police serve a warrant at an alleged meth lab Tuesday.

School district officials said Hillcrest Middle School was on modified lockdown for a short time as police investigated a possible meth lab nearby

Simpsonville police said they responded to a home on Cloverdale Court about 11:30 a.m. to follow up about possible drug activity inside the home.

When officers knocked on the front door, police said a man and woman barricaded themselves inside the home leading to a standoff lasting about 10 to 15 minutes. The men eventually came out peacefully and a methamphetamine lab was discovered inside, police said.

Deputies said the Greenville County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was also called in to assist Simpsonville police along with the narcotics unit.

Officials are at the scene working to safely clear and decontaminate the home.
