SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A fire at a vacant Spartanburg home early Thursday morning was called suspicious.

The fire happened about 5:25 a.m. at 22 Oak Tree Rd.

Whitney Fire Chief Shawn Petras said neighbors noticed people entering and leaving the home just before the blaze. He said someone illegally turned on the electric service to the house.

Petras said he believes the fire started in the living room.

The house sustained extensive damage, Petras said.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the blaze.
