PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A boil water advisory that was issued for Pickens after a water line broke Thursday was lifted Friday morning.

City officials said The City of Pickens Water Department had an 8-inch water main break that may have contaminated the water.

Customers east of the Highway 183 and Highway 8 intersection were urged to boil water vigorously for at least one minute before drinking, cooking or using the water for ice until further notice.

Officials said crews repaired the broken line in about seven hours. They said tests showed the water was safe to begin regularly consuming and using Friday morning.
