SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Oconee County fire Chief Charlie King said one person was critically injured and another was found dead after a room in a mobile home caught fire Thursday afternoon.
King said a 46-year-old woman was airlifted to the burn center in Augusta, GA, after she was rescued from the Cox Road residence by a bystander and family.
King said firefighters found a man who had died inside the home. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the man as Charles Oglesby, 55, who lived in the home. Addis said he was found lying on the floor beside a burned mattress, which was also on the floor.
He said firefighters extinguished the fire within five minutes of arriving at about 4:50 p.m. There is no word yet what started the blaze.
King said four departments responded to fire. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Addis said an autopsy will be performed Friday afternoon. It was the fourth fire-related death in Oconee County this year.
