Pedestrian killed in Spartanburg Co. I-85 crash

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said a man was hit and killed on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County Thursday night.

The Highway Patrol said the crash happened about 8:15 p.m. near mile marker 65 on the southbound side of the interstate.

Troopers said a GMC SUV was headed south on I-85 when the driver hit a pedestrian who was illegally in the roadway. They said the pedestrian died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

Troopers said only one lane of the interstate was open as of 8:45 p.m.
