SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Police said they arrested a Boiling Springs woman who tried to steal jewelry from a local Sears store and after she was caught, flushed the jewelry down a toilet.
Spartanburg police were called to the Sears at the Westgate Mall in Spartanburg about a shoplifter after a store clerk saw 26-year-old Jayme Irwin try to hide jewelry and walk out of the store with her baby, but she was stopped.
The store clerk told police when they asked Irwin to give over the jewelry, she only had two pieces and then she told them that she had flushed some of it down the toilet.
Irwin told police she also had taken some items from the Bath and Body Works, giving over the merchandise.
Irwin was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
