Police: Gunman in Greer shooting claims self-defense
GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Greer police said the man who fired shots outside a restaurant Sunday night claims the shooting was in self-defense.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. at McDonalds at 308 W. Wade Hampton Blvd.
According to an incident report, when police arrived at the scene they found a bleeding man lying on the ground in the parking lot and another man. The report said the second man told police the wounded man attacked him, and admitted to shooting him.
Police said an investigation revealed that the wounded man had a metal pipe with him when he approached the gunman.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.
