A chase that began in Georgia ended with a crash and an arrest in Anderson County on Monday morning.
Sheriff Mike Cleveland, of Hart County, GA, said that about 6 a.m., deputies received a call about a reckless driver. He said when deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away. He said the chase traveled north on U.S. Highway 29 into Anderson County. He said the vehicle eventually crashed while rounding a curve.
According to Chad McBride, spokesman for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened near the intersection of Travis and Martin roads near Starr.
Cleveland said the driver of the vehicle, a woman, was arrested at the scene. He said her passenger, a man, was able to escape. He said the woman is not cooperating with investigators.
The vehicle the woman was driving was reported stolen in Townville, SC, Cleveland said.
Cleveland said the woman will be extradited to Georgia to face charges of bringing stolen property into the state and obstruction.
