Store managers at Handpicked, which is located at the shops of Greenridge in Greenville, said they usually see an increase in male shoppers a week before Christmas.
"I procrastinate with a lot of things in life, and Christmas shopping is one of those things," Drew Dale said as he walked out of a store Tuesday night.
Dale said he had only bought one gift so far and tried to explain why it's so hard to shop for women.
"You can't get a gift card because then it wasn't thoughtful. And when you buy products like clothes, then you get the wrong size and you're in a lot of trouble," Dale said.
And managers at Handpicked said that's why they host a guys' night every year.
"We usually do it Mother's Day and then Christmas, just to give guys kind of a last-minute chance to make sure they get their girls what they want," Alison Heenan said.
She's the store manager and said she's heard it all from men who are shopping around.
"'What's the popular thing right now? What's the style?'" Heenan said.
However, Mark Yost said he's learned it's good to pay attention.
"I think you've got to look for clues though throughout the year," Yost said.
He believes those clues could lead shoppers to that special gift.
"It's just the thought that counts. It's not what you spend or how much," Yost said.
Or for other shoppers like Dale, It could just leave you still wondering.
"So, it's really hard, I usually go flowers," Dale said.
Store employees at Handpicked will host their guys' night Wednesday, Dec. 19.
