SC man gets 37 years in prison after assaulting a minor

PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Pickens County man was sentenced to 37 years and three months in prison on Wednesday after a jury found him guilty on multiple counts in connection with the sexual assault of a young child.

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins said after three days of a trial, Norman Keith Burgess was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, lewd act and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Wilkins said during a five-year period, Burgess assaulted a minor child who notified authorities once the victim was of age.
