Deputies said they have charged a Spartanburg man in connection with the attempted rape of a pregnant woman.
Spartanburg County deputies said the victim was attacked on Monday when she returned to her Spartanburg home to find two men carrying her laptop out of the home and when she went inside, the suspect grabbed her throat, threw her into a mirror then ripped off her clothes.
The man started kicking and punching her, hit her in the face and then left, deputies said. They said the woman, who is 3 1/2 months pregnant, ran next door and called 911.
Deputies said the woman knew her attacker and identified him as 46-year-old Toan Tran. He was arrested and charged with assault with intent to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is being held at the Spartanburg County Jail on $25,000 bond.
