A North Carolina man was killed in a crash in Spartanburg County on Friday evening.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 10 p.m. at the intersection of Bethlehem Church and Nash roads.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said 16-year-old James Wright II, of Jamestown, NC, was a passenger in the vehicle when it crashed. He was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash, Clevenger said.

Troopers said the driver, who was under 17 years old, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Wright was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Clevenger said.
